ABOUT ME

Originally from Virginia, I moved to New York City after college in fulfillment with a life-long love for the city. The contrast between my rural childhood surroundings with the infamous NYC energy I moved into would be only the first in a long list of contradictions characteristic of my Gemini nature (I promise I'm not an astrology fiend!)

I ultimately studied Computer Science during undergrad, but a close second choice was Architecture. I picked up a minor in Global Sustainability as my anxiety about the state of our environment grew. To this day I find myself particularly drawn to conversations about biophilic urban design and sustainable food systems.

At work, I tend to thrive in an independent capacity on analytical projects and collaboratively on creative ones. I actually love PowerPoint and believe it's a criminally underrated design tool. I am actively learning to release control of minor details when mentoring or delegating to others (alignment, font size, code annotation, consistent naming convention, single-source file sharing I'm looking at all of you!)

Although my extracurricular activities skew heavily creative, I have never truly been able to let go of analytical work. I enjoy finding efficiencies in processes and optimizing the path to solutions. I am particularly proficient at distilling scattered information into an accessible storyline, complete with relevant supporting visualizations (check out my data viz section for more on that).

Rural and urban, introverted and extroverted, organized and free-form, creative and analytical. Among others, these dichotomies describe essential intersections where I seem to live my life.
